Drama provides a means for creating waves in people’s lives that, when done well, is unmatched in my experience in terms of power and impact. With its focus on play and creativity, drama offers a way of grappling with problems and discovering solutions which is outside the realms of traditional thinking, as well as being emotionally very compelling.

Theatre has always been able to move people emotionally but the community drama practices I am interested in are more than that; they help participants learn how to move from a position of being powerless victims to the state of empowered activists.

I have studied the alternative theatre and community drama movements under some of the most radical and progressive teachers in this field (Tragically the degree course I took has been scrapped for economic reasons). I have also had the opportunity to put the theories into action.

Whether it be young offenders or NHS workers, community drama has shown me it is possible to create some of the most powerful waves I have seen.

My work in the area is still at an early stage of evolution. I have included in this area of the website a mixture of theory and practical experiences. If you have any interest in this area, whether it leads to a business opportunity or not, I would love to hear from you.
